CBD Oil for Pain Relief

CBD oil is widely recommended for pain management. Pain response in the body is regulated by a very specialized system which is called the endocannabinoid system. Our nervous system also contains cannabinoid receptors. These endocannabinoids act as a neurotransmitter that is attached to these receptors. CBD impacts this receptor activity which helps in reducing the pain. The National Institute for Health is sponsoring pre-clinical studies to look at how cannabis helps in relieving pain caused by:

  • Arthritis
  • Chronic pain
  • MS pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Spinal Cord Injuries

Let’s discuss how CBD Oil helps against the following pains:

Nerve Pain:

People suffering from intractable pain and terminal cancer often found use medical marijuana as part of their pain regimen. This shows that CBD is being used for pain management. Many scientists believe that nonpsychoactive CBD sends glycine receptors to the body to reduce nerve pain. The glycine receptors regulate the speed of nerve signal transmission between nerve cells.

Arthritis pain:

In 2016 European Journal of Pain published a revealing study by using animal testing.  Their main goal was to find the usefulness of CBD oil in curbing arthritis pain. It was done by applying CBD gel to rats for four days in a row. The result was very positive. Researchers found that reduced inflammation and pain affected joints of the rat with no side effects. This study shows that anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties of CBD can prove helpful for humans in curing arthritis. But a thorough human study is still be fully conducted.

Chronic Pain:

The above report also includes the research in which CBD was used for chronic pain. The research result was based on multiple trials and studies. They stated that cannabis has a reasonable potential to treat chronic pain in adults. The cannabinoids, as found in CBD, provide relief to chronic pain without causing any side effects for most people.

Migraine Pain Relief:

There is no such research or study which addresses CBD alone for migraine pain relief. But a study pairing CBD and THC for migraine pain relief can be found. The study stated that the combined usage of CBD and THC can lead to less intense pain and less acute pain for people suffering from migraines. Moreover, the people with cluster headaches were also relieved from pain by using the combination of THC and CBD. Although a study hasn’t been done on the effects of CBD for migraines, many people have reported using it for such.

This shows that CBD oil for pain management can produce great results. It’s a great alternative to try for your body and see what works for you.
